This site is located on the South-west side of Cairnpapple Hill, not far from the main henge and cairn monument at the top of Cairnpapple. Click here for a location map provided by StreetMap.
This site has not yet been excavated, and thus remains conjectural. However, as can be seen from the photographs, it consists of a large roughly oval mound in a prominent location, the centre of which has either been quarried or robbed out.

The Cairnpapple Barrow
Given its proximity to the henge, circle and cairns at the summit of Cairnpapple Hill, and the possibility of a small ring-ditch immediately next to it, it would seem reasonable to think of this barrow as an integral part of a larger ritual and ceremonial landscape covering a significant amount of the hill.
