The Stone

This standing stone is around nine feet high with a roughly square cross-section of about 2.5 feet, and a vaguely pointed top.

In style, it is similar to the nearby Loth Stane and Pencraig Stane, slightly reminiscent of the Callanish stones, being taller, more regularly-shaped and more pointed than is generally found in other areas of the Lothians, suggesting an aesthetic local to the area around Traprain Law.

Presumably, this aesthetic (if it exists as such) is either the product of local geological factors, or an intention to construct a localised network of similar standing stones around Traprain.
