This single standing stone is located South of Wright's Houses, in a hedgerow on the side of the Gorebridge to Borthwick Castle road, South of Dalkeith. Click here for a location map provided by StreetMap.
This stone is around five feet high and prior to being nearly enclosed in the roadside hedge, sat atop a ridge commanding views to the South, East and West.

The stone is roughly rectangular in cross-section, and has heavy vertical grooves on its Southern face, similar to those found on the Caiy Stane and the Gowk Stane, although these may be naturally-formed.

It can easily be missed while driving past, not least during the summer months when the vegetation is high.
