Such a superiority do the pursuits of literature possess above every other occupation,
that even he, who attains but a mediocrity in them, merits the pre-eminence
above those that excel the most in the common and vulgar professions.
— David Hume
CyberScotia e-texts are published in HTML and/or PDF formats and all are currently free to access. The vast majority are reprints or facimiles of historical texts, published without introduction, commentary or notes. However, we plan in the future to publish our PDF versions as full new editions, for which a small charge will be made.
Our most recent virtual publication is West Lothian Place Names by John Garth Wilkinson. This project is a virtual realisation of the 1992 hardcopy edition, updated and enhanced in its online incarnation to include a searchable database interface.
We also have a major work-in-progress towards an online archive of the complete works of the Paisley weaver-poet, Robert Tannahill. This can be accessed at the stand-alone website, The Complete Tannahill.
CyberScotia Books is the successor to Ogmios Press, which was established in 2000 as an online archive of free-to-access e-texts. Eventually, the entire catalogue will be transferred to the current website. Please note that until we complete this transfer, some of the following links still access the extant Ogmios Press versions of our collection.
